All summer, I’d find myself faced with WWI memorials. I notice them everywhere & they mean so much to me since, blessedly, the Doughboy Foundation woke me up. It was Dan Dayton who saw me sing a Sondheim concert & mention my follies ancestry (Broadway Babies!) and my Italian immigrant family, a few of whom fought in The Great War. Dan asked me to create a musical concert — we called it a “reverie”— and I did.
