This Memorial Day, the Doughboy Foundation honored America’s fallen heroes through a series of deeply moving tributes in Washington, D.C. The commemorative events included a wreath-laying by the Gold Star Mothers, a synchronized 16-bugler salute across the National Mall, and an appearance by the AEF Headquarters Band.
Here is a recap of the Foundation’s Memorial Day observances:

Gold Star Mothers Wreath Laying
The solemn morning began at the National WWI Memorial with a deeply moving wreath-laying ceremony alongside the American Gold Star Mothers. This moment of remembrance served as a powerful tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the United States.
Notes of Remembrance
At 8:00 a.m., the Doughboy Foundation, in partnership with the Trust for the National Mall and the National Park Service, presented a synchronized musical tribute. Buglers stood at 16 veterans, war, and presidential memorials across the nation’s capital to simultaneously sound Taps echoing across the nation mall.
National Memorial Day Parade
The Doughboy Foundation’s own AEF Headquarters Brass Quintet was proudly featured later in the day. The musical unit performed in the historic National Memorial Day Parade, marching along Constitution Avenue and entertaining crowds from atop a special WWI Memorial float.
These powerful events honored the legacy of the 4.7 million Americans who served in the First World War while paying respect to all U.S. service members who have given their lives for their nation for 250 years.
