Placing a Swedish flag on the gravesite of an American Doughboy of Swedish origin who died in World War I.

I I was really excited for a week ago, and looked very much forward to my second tour as a guide together with the Swedish military history travel agency “Historic Travel“. Now we are home again and I am very glad to announce that all went very well!

The program worked to 99%, when it comes to sites and timings, and we had a very nice weather through the whole tour.

The main theme was to follow in the footsteps of the Swedish soldiers who fought for the American Expeditionary Force, but also connect to other stories and historic events in the actual terrain.

Here are the main sites we visited during our trip:

  • Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Belleau Wood
  • Oise-Aisne American Cemetery
  • Chateau Thierry
  • Sommepy American Monument and Medeah Farm
  • Main de Massiges trench system
  • The site of the “Lost Battalion”
  • Montfaucon
  • Meuse Argonne American Cemetery
  • Flabas front line February 1916
  • Colonel Driant site
  • Douamount Ossuary and the French Cemetery
  • Fort Douamount
  • Consenvoye village and 131st Infantry Regiment objectives
  • Hill 304
  • Mort Homme Monument
  • Saint Mihiel American Cemetery
  • Tranchée de Bavarois et de Roffignac trench systems

There will be more organized tours in the future, stay tuned for more information.

I wish to thank all the participants for great days with a lot of nice memories!

Below some photos from the trip, what a nice group to guide,
