Two RNAS Sopwith Tabloids set out to attack the Zeppelin sheds at Düsseldorf. One of the aircraft attacks the Cologne railway station instead, but the other, piloted by Flight Lieutenant Reggie Marix, finds his target and destroys a shed holding the German Army Zeppelin Z IX (or LZ25) as well as Z IX itself. This is the first time that an airplane destroys a dirigible.
